OUR PHILOSOPHY

We are a small group of artists from the Boston Area. We love to entertain using our special gift, in the time honored tradition of Monet and other artists who loved to draw caricatures. Our numbers are small because we demand alot. Our artists have been drawing for over 15 years, are committed to the craft, neat in appearance, punctual and pleasant. These ar the qualities we feel are important for what we do.

Community Service

Boston Caricature has long established partnerships with The Boston Public Schools, The Boston Police, The Dorchester Youth Collaborative, The Hyde Park Lions Club, Boston Community Centers, America and other groups that provide services to inner city youth. We currently provide art classes at 5 of Boston's Public Schools as well as assisting with violence prevention, fire safety and anti-gang programs in Boston. We regularly contribute time to charities such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Heart Association,The American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

We try to give back to the community and foster a love for art and creativity in youth. We are proud to have assisted man inner city youth in getting admitted to art school or finding an entry level job in the art field. It is said that we may not have alleviated the graffiti problem in Boston, but we have significantly improved the quality of it!

Why Art?

Art is still the most effective means of communication. Whether for the web or to hang on a wall, The fundamentals are the same. We believe there is a practical purpose for learning to draw and use color that would benefit young people throughout their lives and yet as budgets are cut, art is the first subject to suffer.

We have found that real art education is lacking in city schools and as a result inner city youth are at a disadvantage when it comes to designing web pages, creating advertisements and the visual skills neededd to become architects or business people. To the extent that we are able, we are committed to providing exposure to the arts and sound education wherever possible and we have seen the impact of that over the years. We have handed out hundreds of sketch pads and very often, when we see an older kid that loves to draw, (and are good at it) we learn that they had been exposed to one of our programs. So in a small way, we have made a difference.
